FEATURED VARIETY
Pear Triomphe de Vienna
An old European variety that is seldom encountered in England but provides a valuable addition to hardy and productive Pear varieties.
A stock tree growing here has provided good crops of noticeably large elongated fruits which are olive green with variable small russet patches and a pale green juicy flesh. The flavour is sweet and gently aromatic, similar to Conference. Ripe for use by late September, they can be enjoyed throughout October. The tree displays good autumn leaf colour as well.
This variety is known to be partly self fertile, although the crop will be enhanced by a suitable pollinating partner; this is easily provided by standard varieties such as Concorde, Williams, Conference and Beth.
